June at AUC: housing, transfer of credit & insurance
|
Dear ,
We hope this email finds you well! In June, you are invited to finalise housing related matters and arrange your insurance. The deadline for requesting a transfer of credit is 15 June. If you have signed your housing contract and paid the first month of rent, you are now able to get in touch with the previous tenant.
|
In case you have signed your housing contract and have paid your first month of rent, you are now able to get in touch with the previous tenant. First, make sure you have an account on duwo.nl. Then take the following steps:
- Go to the DUWO contact form (you need to be logged in).
- As Subject, please put 'AUC'.
- In the explanation, please explain that you are the new tenant of the room and include a way for the current tenant to contact you (email or phone number).
- DUWO will forward your message to the current tenant and they will initiate contact.
- If the current tenant is interested in contacting you, you can expect an answer after about a week, as DUWO can take a few business days to process your request.

Early birds who signed up to live in a four-person apartment but haven't been offered a spot yet after the first mixer, will hear the outcome of the second mixer (that took place on 3 June) on or before 7 June. After this round, you will either have found a match, or we will offer you a manually assigned match. Please be assured that all AUC students are guaranteed housing. If 4-person rooms run out before you have found a match, i.e. if demand exceeds supply, then our Housing Officer will manually assign you the best available alternative in consultation with you.

Have you already completed, or will you complete at least 30 European Credits (EC)? You can request transfer of credit up to 30 EC (and in exceptional cases 60 EC). Send the completed transfer of credit request form and all required accompanying documentation to AUC Admissions before 15 June 2024. Make sure to complete this request on time. If you miss this deadline, you can only get a course waiver and not a transfer of credit.

If you're a Dutch student, then you don't have to take any action. If you're coming from abroad, don't forget that Dutch law requires all international students to have appropriate health insurance for their entire stay in the Netherlands from the moment they arrive. You should check whether your current insurance covers your stay and if you are happy with what it consists of. The UvA website provides more information about insurance and includes details on things to consider when choosing a health insurance provider.

On 1 July, AUC's Admissions Office will ask you (by email) to submit your course preferences for the first semester. Please note that since it is your first semester at AUC, you will be asked to indicate your course preferences using a drop-down list of available options to make sure that you can only select courses that are open to incoming students. These course options may be different than what you indicated in your initial study plan when applying. If you have any questions about your course selection or study plan, you can reach out for more information during the Admissions Office Hour.

We'd like to kindly remind you that it's essential to submit your final test results and transcripts to AUC prior to 1 July in order to complete your enrolment. We understand that the end of the term can be a busy time, with exams and other commitments, but we need to receive your final test results and transcripts as soon as possible to avoid any delay in processing your enrolment. If you already know that you won't be able to submit your final exams or your grades will not be available until after 1 July, please get in touch with our admissions office (if you haven't done so already).
