Dear [firstname] [surname],
Congratulations on accepting your offer to study at Amsterdam University College and we are delighted to welcome you to the AUC community! To help you make the most of the months ahead, we'll be keeping you up-to-date on what's going on around campus, what you can expect from us over the summer and highlight some practical steps you can take to make your transition to life at AUC as smooth as possible.
We will be sending you monthly newsletters until AUC Introduction Week starts at the end of August. Please keep in mind that essential need-to-know procedures and policies, such as enrolment and submitting course preferences, will be communicated to you through our Admissions and Registrar Office.

▶ WELCOME TO THE AUC COMMUNITY

A message from Martin van Hees (Dean of AUC)

If you haven't had a chance to visit AUC's campus yet, here it is! We will host a Welcome Day dedicated to students who have accepted their offers and confirmed they'll be starting at AUC in September. As part of the Welcome Day programme, you will have a chance to visit the academic building and student residences before you make your housing selection. You will also meet members of the AUC community, including possible roommates. Please let us know if you'll be attending by registering via the link below before Wednesday 5 April. Please note that this day is completely optional and you will not miss any essential practical information if you cannot attend.
Curious about your classmates and future neighbours? You can connect with other students starting at AUC by joining the WhatsApp Group for the Class of 2026. You can use this group as a resource to ask each other questions and learn who else will be arriving in August.

Don't forget to complete your enrolment in Studielink!
Now that you've accepted your offer, you must finalise your enrolment in Studielink. You should have received an email from our Admissions Office informing you of this procedure. Some students will first be registered at (and pay tuition to) the University of Amsterdam, while others will first be registered at (and pay tuition to) VU Amsterdam. If you didn't receive this email or you're unsure about how to proceed, please send an email to admissions@auc.nl. Please note, the sooner you complete this step, the better.

▶ UPCOMING INFORMATION ABOUT HOUSING
Housing selection for Early Bird applicants will take place in the second or third week of May. The selection will take place through the 'Room.nl' portal for which you will automatically receive an invitation closer to the date. More details about how the process works will be shared closer to the time of selection and during a webinar in late April, but it is important to already know that selection is first-come, first-served. Keep an eye on your email for the exact date and times of the selection. You will also receive an email in advance announcing this, along with more specific instructions.
In early May, we'll be hosting an online roommate mixer specifically for incoming students interested in living in shared 4-person apartments. The programme will include introductions from current students living in 4-person units and a chance to meet other incoming classmates who want to live in a shared social space. You can discuss aspects that could be important when living together, such as whether members of a house are vegan, like sports, are typically early birds or night owls, like to have guests over, etc. If you want to participate, please register via the link below by Wednesday 19 April. We'll send you the specific date and instructions in the week of 24 April. Please note, this is not a commitment to living in a shared room - it's only an indication of interest!

▶ LOOKING AHEAD: SCHOLARSHIPS & INTRO WEEK
The AUC Scholarship Fund offers full and partial scholarships, as well as the Talent Fellowship at AUC (TFA). To apply for an ASF scholarship or TFA, please keep in mind that these require separate applications from your admissions application. The deadline for all scholarships is 1 April 2023. You can find information about eligibility and what each scholarship entails on the AUC website.
For any questions, please contact Gerylaine Campos, AUC's Alumni & External Relations Officer, by sending a message to info@auc.nl.
Good to keep in mind for planning purposes: AUC will be hosting its own Introduction Week for all new students from 28 August to 1 September 2023. The Introduction Week is mandatory and includes a diverse programme that covers academic orientation and social activities so you can get your bearings before classes start. While the full programme will be released in mid-August, please keep in mind that you need to be at AUC for the Introduction Week from 28 August, with classes starting on 4 September.
While we're sure you know the AUC website, we want to draw your attention to a specific page dedicated to students who have accepted their offer. You can find the landing page via the link below that includes resources related to admissions and enrolment, the housing selection procedure, visas and immigration, and practical matters about moving to Amsterdam and starting your studies. This page will be updated with practical information regularly until August.
While you've already received initial information from our Admissions Office about important practical steps such as registering in Studielink and starting visa applications (if applicable), if you have any further questions about enrolling and starting at AUC, please contact our Admissions Office. Alternatively, you can speak directly to an Admissions Officer during their online office hour on Zoom every Tuesday from 13.00 to 14.00 (CET).
