June at AUC: finalise housing & transfer of credit

Dear ,

We hope this email finds you well! Until 15 June, you can request a transfer of credit. June is also the month during which you are invited to select a house, sign your housing contract and pay your first month of rent.

As instructed before, those who want to live in a single or two-person house can now view available houses in the housing portal (uh.room.nl). You will be able to select a house between 6 and 10 June. The housing allocation works on a first-come, first-served basis, so make sure to log on in time on 6 June if you have a specific room in mind.

Those who signed up to live in a four-person house are included in a separate procedure of manual allocation.

The deadline for signing your contract and paying the first month of rent is 24 June 2024, unless communicated differently to you directly. If you miss this deadline, you will not be able to live in the room you selected.

Housing selection: 6 - 10 June

Regular applicants who want to live in a single room or two-person house get one chance to select a room of their choice through the housing platform between 6 and 10 June. The earlier you select your room, the more choices there are. You should have received an email this morning with login instructions to access uh.room.nl; you now have a day to view the available rooms before selection opens at 13.00h (CEST) on 6 June. You can read the complete procedure in the timeline below. Click on the image to enlarge.

Four-person housing selection procedure

If you've signed up to live in a four-person house and if you have attended the mixer on 3 June, you will hear about the outcome by 7 June. You will either have found a match, or we will offer you a manually assigned match. Please be assured that all AUC students are guaranteed housing. If 4-person houses run out before you have found a match, i.e. if demand exceeds supply, then our Housing Officer will manually assign you the best available alternative in consultation with you.

Request a transfer of credit by 15 June

Have you already completed, or will you complete at least 30 European Credits (EC)? You can request transfer of credit up to 30 EC (and in exceptional cases 60 EC). Send the completed transfer of credit request form and all required accompanying documentation to AUC Admissions before 15 June 2024. Make sure to complete this request on time. If you miss this deadline, you can only get a course waiver and not a transfer of credit.

Submitting course preferences in July

Submitting course preferences in July

On 1 July, AUC's Admissions Office will ask you (by email) to submit your course preferences for the first semester. Please note that since it is your first semester at AUC, you will be asked to indicate your course preferences using a drop-down list of available options to make sure that you can only select courses that are open to incoming students. These course options may be different than what you indicated in your initial study plan when applying. If you have any questions about your course selection or study plan, you can reach out for more information during the Admissions Office Hour.

Deadline to submit exams, test results and final transcripts: 1 July 2024

We'd like to kindly remind you that it's essential to submit your final test results and transcripts to AUC prior to 1 July in order to complete your enrolment. We understand that the end of the term can be a busy time, with exams and other commitments, but we need to receive your final test results and transcripts as soon as possible to avoid any delay in processing your enrolment. If you already know that you won't be able to submit your final exams or your grades will not be available until after 1 July, please get in touch with our Admissions Office (if you haven't done so already).

Don't forget to arrange your health insurance

Don't forget to arrange your health insurance

If you're a Dutch student, then you don't have to take any action. If you're coming from abroad, don't forget that Dutch law requires all international students to have appropriate health insurance for their entire stay in the Netherlands from the moment they arrive. You should check whether your current insurance covers your stay and if you are happy with what it consists of. The UvA website provides more information about insurance and includes details on things to consider when choosing a health insurance provider.
