Creative Writing Workshop for staff

In March 2025 ASH is organizing a Creative Writing Workshop for staff by Marie Beauchamps.

This workshop makes space to explore a diverse and creative pallet of writing styles in academic writing practices. You can find more information on the event-page.

Lisa Kattenberg receives NWO Open XS 2024 grant

NWO has awarded grants to three UvA Humanities scholar from the Open Competition XS. ASH-member Lisa Kattenberg receives the grant for the project: 'Encountering ‘American Flanders’: The Dutch in Chile and the history of colonial failure.'

Lecture on merging conceptual and digital history by prof. Pasi Ihalainen

The title of the lecture is: Merging conceptual and digital history to study the transnational evolution of parliamentary democracy.

Pasi Ihalainen is Professor of Comparative European History at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland, concentrating on the history of political discourse in the long term and from comparative and transnational perspectives.

ECAS conference in Prague on June 25-28, 2025

Dr. Olupemi Oludare will be conveying a panel "Rethinking Afropolitanism and Decoloniality: Negotiating African Identities and Knowledge Productions in the 21st Century" at the European conference on African studies (ECAS) in June 25-28, 2025 in Prague.

Oludare's panel is No. 8 under "Arts and Culture".

Sinds een jaar of vijf is de aandacht voor de Nederlands-Caraïbische cultuur enorm gegroeid. Zeker vanaf de opname van Anton de Kom in de Nederlandse geschiedeniscanon in 2020. Michiel Kempen behandelt in zijn afscheidscollege de verschuivingen in de Surinaamse en Nederlands-Caraïbische cultuur.
