Face mask mandatory as of November 6 |
|

|
The campus of the Faculty of Medicine will be subject to more stringent corona measures. As of Saturday, 6 November, a face mask will be required when walking through the buildings. The mask may be removed once you are seated in a lecture hall or room.
These measures remain in force:
- Take a self-test twice a week (available for free at MFAS)
- Students must remain on campus and are not allowed to enter the hospital area

ICT maintenance UvA on November 20 and 21 |
|
|
|
On Saturday November 20 and 21, The UvA will be conducting a maintenance session to the network structure. This weekend, systems are expected to not run optimally due to this upkeep. More information about the exact availability of the systems will follow. |

Push Notifications via My UvA app |
|
|
|
With My UvA app, you can now use push notifications to be notifed about the latest schedule changes and all your grades. Do you want to know immediately when your schedule has been changed or when a new grade appears in SIS? Make sure you have the latest version of the My UvA app installed and that you give the app permission to receive push notifications.
Not only do you have access to the schedule and to your grades, but you can also go to Canvas, see the catalogue of the library of the UvA and ask a question at the Student Service desk. Please download the My UvA app in the App Store or the Play Store. |

| The UvA started a campaign about social safety on the 21rst of October. This campaign identifies inappropriate behaviour and points out the effects of certain types of behaviour. It also offers possibility to talk about these experiences and offers ways to find a solution. On www.uva.nl/lookingoutforeachother everything about social safety can be found, such as help with making difficult subjects open to discussion as well as the mentioning of a behavioural code and the guidelines for social safety. |

| Winners Education Prize 2020-2021 |
|
MIKpunt has awarded the annual education prize 2020-2021 to Jeffrey Matray who was elected best Medical Informatics lecturer. Jeffrey has only been teaching for a short while and already managed to secure this prize. Eva Hoff was awarded best Medicine lecturer.

|
|
Eva is a general practitioner lecturer who is well disposed to education. Floris Wiesman was elected best Master lecturer. Floris manages to clarify difficult subject matter. The best Bachelor Medical Informatics module is 3.1 Artificial intelligence, coordinated by Danielle Sent. She is able to win this prize for best subject year after year.

| Climate goals? Also part of the study programme! |
|
| This week, 120 countries will present their plans to achieve the climate goals during the climate summit in Glasgow. Gradually, sustainability is also anchoring itself in education. ‘The Lancet Countdown has been reporting on the relationship between health and climate change for years’, says Marieke Sijm, assistant professor of Medical Informatics. |

‘They recommend including sustainability in programme courses. We also think it’s very important. That is why, since 2020, sustainability has been interwoven as a theme in the Organizational Settings of Healthcare module, which forms part of the Master's programme in Medical Informatics. Three students have now completed a graduation internship on sustainable care with solutions from Medical Informatics. One of the studies, for example, focused on the sterilization of unused instruments. We have now started a new elective course in which students use the lean method and Green Teams from Amsterdam UMC provide advice. I expect a lot from it!' |

Feeling unsafe because of corona? Talk about it. |
|
|
|
We can come to the campus again, but that does not mean that everyone feels comfortable with it. Do you feel unsafe at the moment? Are you afraid to come to the campus? Discuss it, for example with one of the student counsellors. |
