AUC pop-up Free Store hours and Summer Sales

In addition to Lawrence's tips and the AUC Buy, Sell and Trade Facebook group, there will also be a pop-up Free Store in the AUC student residences during the month of August.

The Resident Assistants advisors (RA's) will manage the store, which will be open Wednesdays and Saturdays between 13.00 and 17.00 starting on Wednesday, 4 August. The Free Store is spread among several common rooms that are all in the middle building, on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd floor (across from rooms 1700, 1768 and 1836). You can use the AUCSA Room Finder to visually see where these are in the dorms.

If you have bought furniture as part of the Summer Sales setup, please know that it could be stored in different common rooms. Please contact the Summer Sales team on WhatsApp to make a pick-up appointment on Wednesdays or Saturdays. They can be reached on +31 6 11 23 92 37 starting Monday, 2 August.

Please note: the DUWO caretaker at the residences is not involved in either of these initiatives, so please send all of your questions related to either the Free Store or Summer Sales to the phone number listed above.

Meet-up at Maslow

In the weeks between the first move-in date and the start of Introduction Week, you will have lots of practicalities to manage as you settle in, but you'll also want to get to know some of your neighbours and future classmates. AUC will be hosting a few meet-up times at Maslow Café, right next to the student residences so that you can meet some AUC community members and, more importantly, each other. Meet-up times are as follows:
  • Friday, 6 August at 15.00
  • Friday, 13 August at 15.00
The meet-ups are totally optional and there will be plenty of time to meet and get to know your peers during Introduction Week too, so don't worry if you can't make it!

Vaccination resources for international students

Vaccination resources for international students

The University of Amsterdam has been working with the Public Health Service of Amsterdam to ensure that international students who have not yet been vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to their arrival in the Netherlands will have the option to receive a vaccine without having to wait fortheir registration with the city. More information about this is forthcoming. Via the link below, you can find information about getting vaccinated without  a Dutch identity document/citizen service number (BSN)  and for those in the Netherlands on a temporary basis.

Invite: First-generation welcome event | 26 August

AUC invites all newly admitted first-generation students for a special welcome event to meet staff and fellow incoming first-generation students prior to the AUC Introduction Week. During this event, you will have the chance to learn tips and tricks from older first-generation students and get the chance to ask staff members from AUC anything you want to know.

Event date and time: Thursday, 26 August from 15.00-18.00

AUC defines first-generation students  as those  whose parents have not completed a university degree or whose parent(s) may have a degree, but  have limited resources in their family or support network. We understand that studying at AUC can be a little overwhelming when you do not have much experience with university or do not know many other people who have completed higher education. Don’t worry, this event will help you meet relevant members from the AUC community and will help you navigate all the amazing resources and opportunities AUC has to offer. We will give you a head-start by providing the following workshops on:

  • Creating a community at AUC: the hidden game (by AUC students and AUC’s Diversity Coordinator)
  • Navigating the transition to university: what’s different, what to look out for and where to find help  (by AUC students and AUC’s Senior Tutor)
After the workshops, you will get to continue the conversations  over a lovely dinner. We kindly as that you sign up using the link below so that we can plan accordingly. We can’t wait to see you there!
