"It is my belief that most achievements are the result of working together and inspiring one another as knowledge grows through interaction. AUC encapsulates the ideals of a living and vibrant international community, and I feel honoured to be serving as its Dean. I hope to contribute to this vivid community, fostering a solid base for a thorough understanding of ourselves and the world we live in. Because you, as alumni, form an essential part of our academic community, we find it of utmost importance to stay in close contact with you and to learn from your experiences. If there is anything you would like to share, I hope you will not hesitate to contact us. I look forward to further strengthening our bonds with you and in the meantime, wish you strength in these complicated times."

A group of AUC alumni (Bethany Copsey '20, Carolina Maienza' 19, Ireen van Dolderen '20, Frankie Turk '19 & Lanie Preston '20) and students (Amara den Hollander and Lily Douglas-Pennant) founded the Stichting RE-PEAT. Their aim is to increase the awareness and appreciation of peatlands. Peatlands is an ecosystem that covers just 3% of the world's land and freshwater surface area but, when drained, is responsible for over 5% of global anthropogenic carbon dioxide emissions. However, when intact these ecosystems can hold more than 2x as much carbon as the world's forests combined! If you are able to, please consider donating to their crowdfunder here.

John Hoang receives Cum Laude for his PhD dissertation on Multiwavelength observation of neutron stars and black holes with the MAGIC Telescopes. "The MAGIC telescopes are a system of two imaging atmospheric Cherenkov telescopes designed to observe very-high-energy γ rays. MAGIC utilizes a large reflective surface and photodetectors with ultrafast time response to capture Cherenkov photons. These features turn MAGIC into a suitable telescope to study high-speed optical astronomy in the millisecond (ms) regime."

Are We Europe was founded by AUC alumni Ties Gijzel '15, Kyrill Hartog '14, Marije Martens '15 and Mick ter Reehorst '14. What started as a tiny blog is now a platform of 700+ European media creatives and a print and online magazine with 20,000 monthly readers. "We believe Europe needs journalism that collaborates across nations, generations and identities. That highlights solutions to shared challenges. That focuses on its people."

The result of an Undergraduate Research Project and reading group conducted in 2020, "On Visibility" is the product of a year-long research programme initiated by Dr. Pedram Dibazar and five AUC students. During this research, they read books and articles, watched films and videos and discussed the nuances of seeing, being seen, visibility and invisibility. In this series, the five hosts examine visibility within the themes of memory, the gaze, gender and sexuality, fashion and caste. Listen to the first three episodes now via the link below.

Dear AUC Alumni, Springboard is organising a career event on the 17th of April. There will be speakers representing various companies and we are trying to find small speaker gifts to thank them! Due to COVID-19 restrictions our event will most likely be online so we are looking for online gifts or gifts that can be sent to them. Do you have any ideas for or would you like to contribute to our speaker gifts? We would love to hear from you!

One of the ways in which you can support diversity in the AUC student body (if you are willing and able), is to become a donor of the ASF. As a university that values diversity so highly, it is essential that talented students are are actually granted the means to participate. The UvA, VU, and AUC are currently the largest donors of the ASF, but more funds are needed in order to support as many talented and diverse students as possible. Even the smallest donations can make a difference, and will be much welcomed.
