Taking shelter in a downpour together with other cyclists and pedestrians, being indignant about a canceled or overcrowded train... How do you physically relate to the people around you when you end up in a situation together, where private and public space merges? That is what video-artist Anna Theunissen questions with her installation 'Iza noticing something'. On the 28th of September we open this installation in the exhibition: 'The City as a Black Box: It's About Noticing Something'.

The City as a Black Box: It’s About Noticing Something

On the 28th of September we open the exhibition 'The City as a Black Box: It's About Noticing Something' with an installation of Anna Theunissen. The installation 'Iza noticing something' is the result of an artistic research on how we relate to each other when our surrounding becomes difficult to devine as a clear private or public space. This experience is presented through a video projection mapping installation. Past summer Anna graduated from KABK photography. She has been developing her graduation project further and build up her experiment in VOX-POP so she can develope the idea further and test it on an audience. It is possible tot visit the exhibition in VOX-POP intill the 19th of October.

The exhibition will open on September 28th.

About Anna Theunissen

As a photographer Anna Theunissen combines candid portraits of her housemates, neighbors, and friends with her street observations. By blending the dynamics of street life with the individuals she encounters Anne create stories in which she seeks for the nuances that fail to characterise the dividing between private and public. The city serves as a stage for these chance encounters, where we meet each other in unforeseen and imaginative ways. In Anna's work, the people become characters in a world of fleeting connections and uncertain engagements.

Despite the lack of clarity in our relationships, we remain endlessly connected as these moments come together, fall apart, and fade away with time. Each instance sets the stage for the next unexpected meeting.
