For the upcoming academic year, Dr Maria Weimer will become the Acting Director at the Amsterdam Centre for European Law & Governance (ACELG). Maria is associate professor of EU law and regulation at the University of Amsterdam and has been a member of ACELG since 2013. Her current research interests are EU risk regulation and EU sustainability regulation with a focus on health and environmental protection, sustainable agriculture, and supply chain regulation.

Professor Christina Eckes, previous Director of ACELG, will be taking a step back from the role after 10 successful years and will focus on other projects. She continues to be a member of ACELG.

I am honored to follow Christina Eckes as the ACELG director and to build upon her remarkable work for our group. I am looking forward to working with ACELG’s many talented and dedicated colleagues to further strengthen ACELG’s standing as a leading centre of excellence on European integration research, particularly at a point in time when Europe is facing dramatic new challenges. I also see it as my task to continuously care for and support the wellbeing of ACELG researchers, which I see as the foundation for everything else we do as academics. Dr Maria Weimer
