From February 2023, Ana Filipa Vrdoljak joins ACIL as a visiting research fellow.  Her current research, with Professor Yvonne Donders, is in the field of women and girls, human rights law, and international cultural heritage law. Ana’s research project at ACIL centres on critical understanding and analysis of the promotion of the human rights of women and girls by UNESCO in the field of culture, through the operation of its culture conventions particularly the World Heritage Convention.

Ana is the UNESCO Chair in International Law and Cultural Heritage at the Faculty of Law, University of Technology, Sydney. She has taught international cultural heritage law and international law in Europe, Asia, Oceania, the Americas and Middle East. She has provided expert advice international organisations and states in the field of culture and international law.  She is currently completing a commentary on the 1970 UNESCO and 1995 UNIDROIT Conventions for Oxford University Press and preparing the second edition of International Law, Museums and the Return of Cultural Objects for Cambridge University Press.
