We welcome Clara Muller to ACELG as a visiting researcher from October to December 2023. Clara is a PhD Researcher in her 3rd year at the Department of Law of the European University Institute in Florence.

Her thesis focuses on the interplay between common values and exceptions in EU law, with a special focus on the (European) public order exception in free movement of persons law. The research project seeks to explore how to strike a balance between the reserved areas of national competence and their ability to restrict EU rights in a context where those areas are increasingly being influenced by a common conception in the European Union (by EU legislation but also the affirmation of EU values).

During her stay and whilst exploring Amsterdam, Clara will continue working on this research project, in particular in the area of exceptions to free movement rights.

Clara holds a Master’s Degree from the University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne, and an LLM from the College of Europe in Bruges. Her main academic interests concern the right of persons in EU law (free movement of persons, EU citizenship, migration law, social rights) and EU constitutional matters.
