ACIL visiting fellow Niccolò Zugliani, PhD candidate at the University of Verona, is researching state sovereignty in the international investment regime.
Niccolò Zugliani, University of Verona

He holds a Master’s degree from the University of Verona, an LL.M cum laude from the University of Vienna, Austria, and is admitted to the Italian Bar. Niccolò’s research focuses on the mutating understanding of State sovereignty in the international investment regime, as part and parcel of the evolution of State sovereignty in international law. While at ACIL, he is focusing on the variations in the jurisprudence of investment arbitral tribunals towards States’ sovereign measures, to identify whether any detectable “trend” exists.

He chose ACIL due to the numerous ongoing research projects dealing with domestic and international courts in the international investment realm and the expertise of its staff members in the field of international investments.
