He will be supervised by Ingo Venzke and Catherine Brölmann. The study will be affiliated with the Critical International Legal Histories research project. Selman chose ACIL because of its international, dynamic, compelling and high-quality research environment.
He holds an LL.B. (with honours) from Bahçeşehir University and an LL.M. in Public International Law from Leiden University. He was formerly affiliated with the Kalshoven-Gieskes Forum on IHL (researcher) and the International Criminal Court (Victim Participation and Reparation Section).
For the past 3 years, Selman has lectured public international law and international criminal law at the Istanbul Center of International Law. He is admitted to the Istanbul Bar and licenced to practice law in Turkey.
Generally, Selman’s research interests include the history of international law, sources of obligation under international law, international humanitarian and criminal law, Islamic law and its interaction with public international law.
